Who, how, what – Project funding in practice

While the German government's Energy Research Programme fundamentally defines research requirements in the energy field, related funding announcements form the basis for practical project funding. Projects with suitable research ideas may apply for this funding. In these announcements, the ministries define the specific research needs of the subject areas for which they are responsible.

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) is responsible, among other things, for promoting sustainable power generation technologies, which are presented on this portal. These fall into the area of applied research.

Project Management Jülich as contact partner

The BMWK has commissioned the Project Management Jülich (PtJ) to implement the funding programmes mentioned. This includes advising applicants, assessing the submitted projects and approving and disbursing the funding up to the review of the utilisation of the results. As part of its funding programme management, PtJ forms an important interface between its clients and the funding recipients from companies, universities and non-university research institutions. Project ideas can be submitted to the PtJ contact persons.
