The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) is continuing its successful research funding for the real-world laboratories of the energy transition with an expanded research initiative. While the ideas contest of the first funding period focused on hydrogen technologies and sector coupling as well as energy-optimised districts, the new concept is deliberately kept more open.
The real-world laboratories of the energy transition are innovation projects on an industrial scale and in a real-world environment. The 7th With the 7th Energy Research Programme, the BMWi has implemented the real-world laboratories of the energy transition as large-scale demonstration projects for technical and non-technical innovations. The aim is to get research results into practice more quickly.
