Solar industry in Germany shows double-digit growth for the sixth year in a row
The German photovoltaic sector continues to develop positively. This is one of many interesting facts that emerge from the annual report of the Photovoltaic Power Systems (PVPS) programme of the International Energy Agency (IEA).
The "Annual Report 2022" has been written by photovoltaic experts who work in the PVPS programme of the IEA. The global network consists of several internationally staffed working groups (called tasks). The network exchanges information on the latest technological, political and sociological developments in the industry in order to promote the use of photovoltaics worldwide.
Report analyses the situation in over 30 countries
Along with the status reports of the various tasks, the expert group takes a look at the status and perspectives of photovoltaics in the more than 30 participating countries and organisations in its annual report. In each case, the national political perspectives, industrial market developments and the various research areas are examined in greater detail. For Germany, the 7th Energy Research Programme of the Federal Government plays an important role. The information is presented with interesting facts and figures on photovoltaics in each country. In 2022, for example, 41.4 gigawatts of new photovoltaic capacity were connected to the grids in the 27 EU member states.
The annual report thus highlights the activities of the collaboration programme and the participating countries in order to provide insights into the country-specific status quo of photovoltaics. In addition to the Annual Report 2022, the PVPS programme publishes an annual Snapshot Report that summarises specific developments in the global photovoltaic market. This is supplemented at the end of each year by the "Trends in Photovoltaic Applications" report. In this report, the PVPS programme prepares final data on the global photovoltaic development of the previous year. (av)
